A New Look

Well as you can see - Random Thoughts has had a makeover. It's not completely finished, but a work in progress. THANKS to MapleMama and Mr. Maple for the new look - the most computer savvy people I know and love!! :)

Don't worry, you won't need a hard hat or anything in reflective wear to read this blog during the construction phase. Oh and there aren't any fines if you're speeding through this particular work zone. :)

Shades of Blue (SOB)

This blog is purely for entertainment purposes...if you're looking for something serious - you've picked the wrong blog. :) This entry is literally my take on various Shades of Blue. I won't cover all of them, but just a few for kicks.

A little background - my favorite colors have always been purple and blue. When I was a kid, my Mom painted 6 large triangles in my bedroom. Each was a solid color of either blue or purple (white background). The 2 triangles at the bottom started in the corners to the middle of the wall pointing towards the ceiling. The other triangle started in the middle pointing towards the floor. The "floor" triangles were the same color and the third triangle was the other color. On the opposite wall these were reversed. (If you can make sense of this disaster paragraph - keep reading - it will get better. I apologize to those in the Educational profession who may read this...)

Anyway - I still have these colors in my life, the bathroom is purple and yellow. My home office is "The Blue Room" (hereafter TBR) - where I sit and type these "fascinating" Random Thoughts. I love TBR - the walls are a bluish-gray with a dark blue carpet with light blue flecks. I would like TBR to be bigger and better organized, but that's not going to happen today.

So with that info - I'd like to go over some things about Blue...in no particular order...

Navy: It's DARK, STRONG, almost FEARLESS. A military service is named Navy and I know a Navy pilot. As a color to wear - I find it goes best with gray (or grey), brown or khaki. I don't really like it with black - it's too dark.

Cornflower (plus or minus a shade): Everybody loves it in the Crayola box. I have a new appreciation for this SOB. From what I've been told, I seem to wear it well. It's BOLD, VERSATILE, and FUNCTIONAL too. I find it makes me feel a little more confident. It goes with all of the previously mentioned colors.

Country Cottage: Honestly, not a big fan of the CC...I think it might be a little on the wuss side of Blues. I can't even find a similar shade in my palette for text. Perhaps it's depressed as a SOB. You really only see it in kitchens mixed with white, maybe a pattern of geese with bows around their necks (don't even get me started on that), or perhaps some chickens.

Indigo/Periwinkle: Simply stated...The best of both blue and purple.

Ocean/Sky: The perfect day with the sun and a light breeze. We don't get nearly enough of those in this area of New England...and we're not right on the ocean. Weekend getaways...

Sapphire: Well it's a lovely gem and I envy those with a September birthday. It's one of my favorite jewels, but I'm lacking in true ownership. Anything I do have in the sapphire family, I'm certain are "lab created" - but it's better than nothing. :)

Don't be offended if I didn't list your fave - post a comment with your...Random Thoughts.

I'm new here

Hello and Welcome to my Random Thoughts. I'm brand new to the Blog world so if you have any pointers - by all means, feel free to share.

My best friend (who is the closest thing to a sister I have) introduced me to her blog, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Thanks Maple Mama!

At this particular moment I don't have many "random thoughts" to share - other than I really should turn in so I can get up and go to work, but I'll keep typing. (haha)

That brings me to an item to ponder. Does anyone know who created the 5 day work week? Why 5? Why not 4 days on and 3 days off? I'm sure someone has that kind of work schedule. I wouldn't mind working my full time job in 4 days and having a 3 day weekend. I might appreciate my full time job more...the key word being might...

So I was leaning back in my chair, staring upwards trying to think of something mildly entertaining to type - and there it was...a miniature disco ball hanging from my ceiling. Yes really. It was a gift (oh yes) ...from a past love, and he wasn't the best at giving gifts. I know, I know "it's the thought that counts"...but we all know, sometimes it's the gift that counts. In fact - I can't remember what it was for or why I still have it there. I know we were at a Party Store shopping for a sick friend and I mentioned it in passing as being kinda cool in a funny way. That apparently meant - "oh please buy it for me, I can't live without it."

How's that for Random?
